Case Study

Context:   Laurel Cats, Inc. is an all-volunteer-run cat charity in Laurel, MD. They provide many services for cats in their community, including trap-neuter-release, feral cat colony support, and foster to adoption programs. Laurel Cats educates community members on community cat issues and advocates for appropriate legislation and policies. 

Challenge: Becoming a new foster cat volunteer involves a lot of information and logistics. Volunteers have other responsibilities, like jobs and families, so it can be overwhelming to get started as a new foster cat volunteer, especially with all of the supplies needed to care for a foster cat. 

Solution: This one-pager supplements the onboarding course and serves as a reference for new cat foster families as they get ready to receive their first foster cat.

Result: The goal of this checklist is to reduce confusion and streamline the foster cat experience for new volunteers. This will be measured by feedback from volunteers once the checklist is implemented into the fostering process.
