Context: Rumie.org is a nonprofit that used technology to create free, accessible learning for anyone across the internet. The goal is to encourage people to spend some of their phone time learning instead of scrolling.
Structure: Rumie uses a "sprint" structure, similar to Agile methodologies, to create, edit, and publish Bytes. A sprint cycle lasts 3 weeks, with the first week devoted to choosing a topic, researching, and drafting a Byte. In week 2, we are paired with a peer to do peer edits. Then, in week 3, we work with editors to polish our work and publish it.
My Role: I research, outline, create, and edit microlearning modules, called "Bytes", on high-interest topics. I use Slack and ClickUp to communicate with my squad of other learning designers and leaders throughout each cycle, including peer edits.
Result: In 5 months, my Bytes have reached over 750 learners worldwide. Editors have praised my ability to explain complex ideas simply and use examples and media successfully.
